Station Garden Gets a Workout (14/08/24)
Yesterday, brigade members gathered at the station to plant out the new garden bed surrounding the flagpoles and tidy up other areas. The garden bed has been prepared over recent months as part of our station grounds improvement project.
The hedge is being extended back to the boundary fence to create a secluded space attached to the new gazebo. That area was reworked with compacted toppings earlier this year to remove the need to mow the area.
The roses along the emergency vehicle entry have been relocated to make it easier for the Council to mow the road reserve. It will also assist with maintaining the bark that falls from the three gum trees.
Selection of the plants for the flagpoles is informed by CFA's Landscaping for Bushfire publication. Information about selecting the right plants and landscaping in bushfire prone area is available at How to Prepare – Landscaping.
