Open Day (80th Anniversary) at Buxton Fire Station – finish (21/04/2024)
Day Concludes with Cutting the Cake
It was a big day at the station today with a fantastic turnout for our 80th Anniversary Open Day. We had people arriving even before the bouncing castle was blown up. We had people from far and wide attend as well as people who were simply passing and decided to drop in and say hello.
We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported us in the planning, preparation, and conduct of today. There are too many to mention but our particular thanks go to UGFM - Radio Murrindindi, Buxton Primary School, Taggerty Fire Brigade, SES Marysville Unit, Alexandra Fire Brigade, and Narbethong Fire Brigade. If you need a facepainter locally, you can't go past glitterslapped; check them out.
A special mention also goes to the VicPol Highway Patrol unit that regularly went past today sounding its siren in short blasts and flashing its lights at cars just ahead of them. They seemed to say hello to a lot of motorists...
The day concluded with the traditional cutting of a cake with Brigade Life Member Wayne Fiske doing the honours assisted by Murrindindi Shire Council Mayor Councillor Damien Gallagher. Wayne thanked everyone who helped make the day possible and Damien concluded by expressing the community's appreciation to Buxton and all the other brigades and volunteer emergency services in Murrindindi Shire.
