3.4C Tanker enters Service at Buxton (17/07/24)
Following consultation with the Alexandra Group catchment officer yesterday, this afternoon we decommissioned the 2.4D tanker and placed the 3.4C tanker into service.
Although the team at District 12 had stowed the appliance as per the vehicle's standard inventory, there was a bit of gear to swapped from one to the other. Equipment belonging to the brigade also had to be dealt with. The Breathing Apparatus sets and associated equipment, such as BA Control and spare cylinders, had to be moved over along with the first aid kit and defibrillator.
All the Brigade-Owned gear was laid out in the engine bay to enable a review to be done of what was needed on the incoming appliance; funny enough the crew found a home for most of that gear.
Shortly after the changeover was complete, CFA Communications arrived to reflash the radio as Buxton Tanker 1.
It has been a long time in the planning but we now have a mix of appliances that better suits the needs of a growing community; not just in the town but outside the township. Our thanks to everyone - CFA, Group and Brigade - that have contributed to getting the appliance here and into service.
Now we have everyone together in the cabin, we will be able to communicate on the way to an incident. A bigger, better equipped, and safer appliance.
