BA Training and another Cathedral Rescue (07/09/2024)

This weekend, we have four of our members undertaking a Compressed Air Breathing Apparatus course at the station instructed by District 12 Structural Instructor Terry Rule and Eildon's Lt Darren McGrath. Two of the members undertaking the course are full-time residents and the other two are part of our recreational property owners cohort; a good mix of full-time and part-time crew.

The morning was spent covering off the theory aspects of the course. After a hearty lunch provided by the Brigade Support team, the first of the practical training kicking off with the trainees learning how to don flash-hoods and prepare the equipment. Afterwards it was time to don and operate the MSA Classic sets.

While all that was happening, at 1:20pm, the brigade was responded to yet another incident on the Cathedral Range. A person was reported as having fallen 5m down a rocky face along Razorback Track. Marysville responded with their FCV and we despatched a member with them to establish the CFA Agency Commander role at Sugarloaf carpark. The patient was able to be accessed by an Ambulance crew rappelling down to them. AV and SES crews also hiked in and CFA technical rescue teams were stood down.
