Windy Conditions fans Escaped Burn (17/04/2022)

This afternoon, around 1:30pm, Buxton and Thornton brigades were responded to support Taggerty to a report of an escaped private burn just outside Taggerty. With gusty and erratic winds blowing across the district most of the day, it wasn't surprising the pile of leaves got away.

Upon arrival the Taggerty crew were able to halt the spread of the fire. Thornton and Buxton assisted with blacking out the burnt area. The Alexandra Group FCV was requested for the Thermal Imaging Camera which was used to identify areas that required additional work to completely extinguish.

It's important to consider the prevailing and predicted weather conditions when contemplating any burning. Wind can cause unexpected flare-ups and spread embers.

Our team enjoyed some Easter Eggs, left over from Good Friday, once the hose was washed and tested.

Remember: All the local brigades are looking for new members and our Information Session is next Sunday.
