Late night response to Car Fire (16/01/2022)
At around 2:25am this morning, a car fire was reported along the Maroondah Highway between Buxton and Narbethong in the vicinity of Nichols Road, Narbethong. Buxton and Marysville brigades were alerted along with Narbethong.
The vehicle was located at Worcester Road, just south of Nichols Road, and was well alight when the first appliance arrived at the scene. Structural qualified members from Buxton utilised compressed air breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire which was contained to the vehicle. The initial attack focused on the nearby grass and scrub to ensure fire had not spotted in to the bush; fortunately there was no wind and cool temperature.
Police were requested and a local unit was despatched. The fire was reported by a motorist travelling from Melbourne.
