A Big Crush to Clear Stockpile of Cans (31/03/2022)

This evening members of the brigade undertook a big effort to crush a stockpile of aluminium cans stored behind the station.

With Covid restricting attendance at the station until recently, aluminium cans dropped at the collection point in plastic bags had simply been stockpiled until restrictions were eased. At times it was necessary to decant some cans out of the create in to large plastic bags when restrictions prevented crushing cans out of the create.

It has been great to have so many cans dropped at the collection point despite the impact of Covid restrictions in recent times. To some extent, ironically, Covid may have increased the volume of aluminium cans being dropped off during the course of covid.

Thanks to Phil, Paul, Peter, Mark, John, Steve and Brian for attending at the station tonight for the big crush... well done.
