Second Run to Sugarloaf Peak for Easter (05/04/2021)

Today both Buxton and Marysville Fire Brigades were paged along with Marysville SES for the second time to assist Police and Ambulance Victoria at Sugarloaf.

Great photos from the Marysville SES team from the incident scene. As indicated in the attached Post, the number of hikers on the peak was unbelievable and created additional risks for the SES crews on scene. It was disappointing to have to deal with others at the bottom who wanted to climb despite being told that a rescue was in progress.

Marysville and Buxton CFA members assisted the CFA and FRV Rope Rescue Crews in staging equipment on Canyon Track. Fortunately, AV was able to stabilise the patient for a winch by HEMS1.

Buxton and Marysville brigades were also responded on Good Friday but, thanks to the fast work of the SES crews, a winch was executed without additional crews needed and CFA resources were quickly released.
